Our Story

Hello and welcome to our website

Allow us to introduce ourselves, we are a couple George and Samantha and we have been making candles for our loved ones for years now.

Whether it has been for a gift for someone's birthday or to decorate and fill our own home with beautiful fragrance at Christmas time, we have always had such great compliments for our candles.

It wasn't until we stopped working due to Covid lockdown that someone gave us the idea to set up and start selling our candles and wax melts for others to enjoy. That is when Hikaru Home Fragrance began.

We took inspiration from the Japanese Shibui which refers to a particular aesthetic of simple, subtle, unobtrusive beauty.

Hikaru itself is a Japanese verb meaning "to shine" which is rather fitting for a candle company. Paired with our use of natural soy wax again draws inspiration from the Japanese love of natural raw materials.

We have always preferred using soy wax in our candles rather than paraffin. Paraffin wax when burnt are known to create carcinogens which are the same toxins found in diesel fuel fumes.

Soy wax burns much cleaner and produces up to 90% less soot than paraffin.

One of the reason as to why our slogan - Your Natural Glow - rings true.
